As a sign of the firm’s breadth of legal knowledge, shareholders Mark D. Kimball and James P. Ware were able to negotiate and secure a favorable settlement agreement on behalf of an individual being investigated by the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”). OFAC is the arm of the Executive Branch that monitors and enforces economic sanctions initiated by the United States. OFAC asserted that MDK Law’s client had imported and/or assisted in the import of banned technology into a country against which the U.S. has economic sanctions. OFAC initially threated finds in excess of $200,000.00. Mr. Kimball and Mr. Ware were successful in negotiating a favorable resolution for their client in which OFAC agreed to payment of approximately 20% of fines over an extended period of time.
